Financial Aid > Entrance and Exit Counseling Requirements
Federal law requires that all recipients of any Federal Family Education
Loan program receive loan entrance counseling before
initial loan proceeds can be disbursed. Entering students and continuing
students who are first-time borrowers and receive Federal Stafford and/or
Federal Perkins loans must complete the mandatory entrance counseling
session. Information on the student borrower’s rights and responsibilities
will be provided and explained. Entrance counseling is scheduled during
orientation week, which is held at the beginning of the fall semester.
Prior to graduation, less than half-time enrollment status and withdrawal
from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, all students who borrowed from the
Federal Family Education Loan program must attend exit counseling.
Information will be given to you regarding estimated monthly payments,
repayment options, loan consolidation, deferment and forbearance options,
and other rights and responsibilities. Students will be contacted by the
Office of Financial Aid with details regarding exit counseling sessions.
