John Chiles is the owner of Ritchie’s
Café, located at 11107 S. Post Oak @ S. Willow,
Houston, TX
77053. The hours of operation are 11:30 am to
7:00 pm Tuesday thru Sunday. Some
of the items on the menu include:
burgers and sandwiches, chicken wings, catfish & greens, vegetables,
salads and daily special desserts.

Eric Burns and his wife Christina Burns
are expecting their second daughter on June 17, 2006. Their first daughter is named Gabriela
Burns and she is almost 3yrs old.
Eric works for the State Board of Dental Examiners in Austin,
TX and resides in San Antonio.

a daughter, Saba Scott on November 9, 2004.
Marriages
Maxine Longoria married Rusty Nash on
February 14, 2006 in McAllen,
TX. The bride is the Associate Judge for the
Hidalgo County Juvenile Justice
Court.

Congressman
Al Green opened his new district office located at 11110 Bellaire
Blvd., Suite 210 at the intersection of Bellaire and Boone Road.
Class

David
P. Baugh was named the 2006 recipient of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr.
Pro Bono Award by the Virginia State Bar.

Webb was named Chairman of the Texas Physician Assistant Board by
Governor Perry. His term will expire February 1, 2007.

Davis resigned from his position as Assistant District Attorney in
Fort Worth and will begin working with Allstate Insurance on their legal
team.

Toysha
Jones Martin ’97 and Burt Martin were blessed with a son, McKinley
Reece Martin, born January 1, 2006 at 10:22 a.m. at Banner Thunderbird
Hospital in Glendale, AZ. McKinley weighed 6lbs, 13oz and was 21
¼ inches long. McKinley was the first resident born to the
city.

on October 5, 2005 for saying, “If it wasn’t for Texas Southern University,
I would not have received this honor, because a great deal of my accomplishments
are a direct correlation to my degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.”
Charles
Portz, partner of Portz &
Portz law firm represented Brandy Briggs in
her appeal. Briggs was sentenced
to 17 years in prison for the death of her two month old son. Her conviction was overturned after serving
five (5) years in prison

Kronsky E. Kennon, joined the law firm of Rose Walker, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Rose Walker, Ms. Kennon completed a clerkship for U.S. District Judge Kenneth
M. Hoyt in Houston. Previously, she worked as an associate in
the litigation department at Rider Bennett, LLP, in Minneapolis, where she practiced commercial
litigation, bankruptcy, and white collar criminal defense. She also served as a judicial extern for Judge
William Greendyke, former Chief Judge of the
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston.

Rodney
Nassiri was appointed as Contracts Specialist for former
Los Angeles Mayor Hahn; served under Mayor Villaraigosa. Nassiri recently accepted an offer in contracts at Parsons
Brinkerhoff, Inc.
Class
of 2004
Carlos
A. Ivanor worked for a personal injury firm and as an immigration
attorney in 2004. In 2005, he
went to work for the Public Defenders office in Orange/Osceola County,
Florida (the Orlando
area) representing indigent clients charged with criminal offenses. Currently, Ivanor is employed by the Florida
Attorney General (Charlie Crist) and works in
the Daytona Beach office, doing criminal
appeals to the 5th District Court of Appeals for Florida and Federal Courts, as well as the
Florida Supreme Court.

Singletary, Senior Administrative Assistant retired in January. A celebratory farewell was held on January
20, 2006 at the law school.
Faye
Webster, looseleaf and upkeep services supervisor of the Thurgood Marshall
School of Law Library retires after 41 years of service. A celebratory farewell in her honor was held
at the law school on Thursday, January 26, 2006.
