Class of 1991

John Chiles is the owner of Ritchie's Café, located at 11107 S. Post Oak @ S. Willow, Houston, TX 77053. The hours of operation are 11:30 am to 7:00 pm Tuesday thru Sunday. Some of the items on the menu include: burgers and sandwiches, chicken wings, catfish & greens, vegetables, salads and daily special desserts.

Class of 2000

Eric Burns and his wife Christina Burns are expecting their second daughter on June 17, 2006. Their first daughter is named Gabriela Burns and she is almost 3yrs old. Eric works for the State Board of Dental Examiners in Austin, TX and resides in San Antonio.

Class of 2003

Barbara L. Deans-Campbell is practicing tax and bankruptcy for the law firm Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson LLP in Memphis, TN.


Cedric Scott '99 and his wife had a daughter, Saba Scott on November 9, 2004.


Maxine Longoria married Rusty Nash on February 14, 2006 in McAllen, TX. The bride is the Associate Judge for the Hidalgo County Juvenile Justice Court.

Class of 1974

Congressman Al Green opened his new district office located at 11110 Bellaire Blvd., Suite 210 at the intersection of Bellaire and Boone Road.

Class of 1975

David P. Baugh was named the 2006 recipient of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Pro Bono Award by the Virginia State Bar.

Class of 1995

Timothy Webb was named Chairman of the Texas Physician Assistant Board by Governor Perry. His term will expire February 1, 2007.

Class of 1997

Valerie Baston Young is currently running for Tarrant County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7.

Toysha Jones Martin is senior counsel for Wells Fargo.

Class of 1998

Coretta Graham former candidate for Del Mar College Board of Regents, will be seeking a seat on the Corpus Christi City Council.

Class of 1999

James Sustaita is the Director for the Houston Bar Association's Family Law Council. Sustaita is currently working for the Harris County Domestic Relations Office.

Class of 2000

Myron Davis resigned from his position as Assistant District Attorney in Fort Worth and will begin working with Allstate Insurance on their legal team.


Toysha Jones Martin '97 and Burt Martin were blessed with a son, McKinley Reece Martin, born January 1, 2006 at 10:22 a.m. at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, AZ. McKinley weighed 6lbs, 13oz and was 21 ¼ inches long. McKinley was the first resident born to the city.

Class of 1982

The Honorable Willie E.B. Blackmon received the 2005 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Texas A&M University. For more information go to: . Mr. Blackmon was quoted on October 5, 2005 for saying, "If it wasn't for Texas Southern University, I would not have received this honor, because a great deal of my accomplishments are a direct correlation to my degree at Thurgood Marshall School of Law."

Charles Portz, partner of Portz & Portz law firm represented Brandy Briggs in her appeal. Briggs was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the death of her two month old son. Her conviction was overturned after serving five (5) years in prison

Class of 1995

Victor Vital was honored as a "Texas Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics, Texas Monthly (October 2005), and "Texas Rising Star" by Law and Politics, Texas Monthly (July 2005).

Victor Vital was honored by D Magazine as one of the "Best Lawyers Under 40"

Class of 1996

Ronald Green was re-elected as Houston City Councilmember Position 4 At-Large.

Class of 1997

Sarah Monty was promoted to Partner of Monty Partners, L.L.P. Sarah's exclusive area of practice lies in the area of United States Immigration and Naturalization.

Class of 1998

Major Adams is the agent representing former University of Texas quarterback Vincent Young. Young is expected to be the third pick in the next NFL draft.

Class of 1999

Terri Leftwich left Discovery Communications, Inc. and is now working for the National Georgraphic Channel in Washington, D.C. as Manager in Business and Legal Affairs.

Valencia Nash is running for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2. This area includes Oak Cliff, Balch Springs, Pleasant Grove, Wilmer-Hutchins, portions of Duncanville and Cedar Hill. Timothy Ammons '99 is serving as her Assistant Campaign Manager.

Class of 2000

Loran Black has taken the position of Associate Compliance Director for the Southland Conference.

Lucinda Daniels, former Director of Career Services at TMSL is now the District Director and Counsel for fellow alum, Congressman Al Green of the 9th District of Texas.

Steve Bolden was honored as a "Texas Rising Star" by Law and Politics, Texas Monthly (March 2006).

Class of 2001

Kronsky E. Kennon, joined the law firm of Rose Walker, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Rose Walker, Ms. Kennon completed a clerkship for U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt in Houston. Previously, she worked as an associate in the litigation department at Rider Bennett, LLP, in Minneapolis, where she practiced commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and white collar criminal defense. She also served as a judicial extern for Judge William Greendyke, former Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston.

Class of 2002

Rodney Nassiri was appointed as Contracts Specialist for former Los Angeles Mayor Hahn; served under Mayor Villaraigosa. Nassiri recently accepted an offer in contracts at Parsons Brinkerhoff, Inc.

Class of 2004

Carlos A. Ivanor worked for a personal injury firm and as an immigration attorney in 2004. In 2005, he went to work for the Public Defenders office in Orange/Osceola County, Florida (the Orlando area) representing indigent clients charged with criminal offenses. Currently, Ivanor is employed by the Florida Attorney General (Charlie Crist) and works in the Daytona Beach office, doing criminal appeals to the 5th District Court of Appeals for Florida and Federal Courts, as well as the Florida Supreme Court.


Nyanza L. (Davis) Moore '01 married Erik Moore, a graduate of University of Texas and Regional Account Manager for Merck for over 8 years. Mr. & Mrs. Moore will celebrate their 1 year wedding anniversary on March 25th.

Donna Davis-Gregory, Director of Career Services married Michael Gregory over the Christmas Holidays on December 17, 2005.

Joseph Denson '05 got married this year.


Altresha Burchett '04 got engaged to Jeff Williams on February 13, 2006. Although there is no firm date set for the wedding, it will be held in Memphis, TN.

Jeff Loeffler '05 lives in Grand Island, NE and is getting married on July 22, 2006.


Frank B. Daniel '04 was blessed with a baby girl named, Liberty after graduation.

Wife and Johnny Papantonakis '00, a son, named Xander Papantonakis, born July 28, 2005, 9 pounds and 9 ounces.

Ronald Green '96 and Hillary Harmon Green '98, a son, named Ronald Christopher Green, II born September 13, 2005.

Larissa and Percy Singlterry '04, a daughter, named Naiya Elise on September 14, 2005.


Loretta Singletary, Senior Administrative Assistant retired in January. A celebratory farewell was held on January 20, 2006 at the law school.

Faye Webster, looseleaf and upkeep services supervisor of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library retires after 41 years of service. A celebratory farewell in her honor was held at the law school on Thursday, January 26, 2006.
