Cori A. Harbour
Cori A. Harbour was raised in Liberty, Texas, where she graduated
magna cum laude from Liberty High School. She received a B.A. in
sociology from the University of Texas at Austin (1993) and her J.D. cum
laude from Texas Southern University (1997). Harbour began her legal
career at the Eighth Court of Appeals in El Paso. She served as law
clerk (1997-1999), staff attorney (1999-2001), and senior staff attorney
(2001-2004). Harbour opened her own firm in 2004 with a focus on civil
and criminal appeals, state and federal criminal defense, and limited
civil litigation. She is licensed in Texas and New Mexico.
Harbour currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Texas Young
Lawyers Association (“TYLA”) and has served as President (2009-2010),
President-elect (2008-2009), Vice President (2007-2008), and Director
(2003-2009) of TYLA. She has served as President of the El Paso Bar
Association (2008-09), the El Paso Young Lawyers Association (2001-02),
and the El Paso Women's Bar Association (2000-01).
She is a founding fellow of the El Paso Bar Foundation and serves on the
Foundation's Board of Directors. Harbour is also a fellow of the Texas
Bar Foundation. She teaches an undergraduate course at The University of
Texas at El Paso entitled, “Courts in Action.” She is also a certified
mediator.
Harbour was named El Paso's Outstanding Young Lawyer (2000-2001) by the
El Paso Young Lawyers Association and was recognized as El Paso's
Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney (2009-2010) by the El Paso Bar
Association. She received the TYLA President's Award of Merit in
2004-2005. In 2009, she was recognized by her alma mater for exemplary
service and dedication to the legal profession and to Thurgood Marshall
School of Law. Harbour was selected for inclusion as a Texas “Super
Lawyer” in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
