The Career Services Alumni Mentors Network

Dear Alumni of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law of Texas Southern University:

The TMSL Career Services Office (CSO) supports students and young alumni in many ways in their career planning and job searches. One invaluable resource in carrying out this mission is the Alumni Mentors Network. As a Network Mentor, you would make yourself available to one or more students who may need the guidance of a practicing attorney. Many alumni wonder how, other than financially, they can give back to Thurgood Marshall. Becoming a Career Mentor is an excellent way to make a commitment to the University and to the Law School. The satisfaction of counseling a young student through the challenges often faced by inexperienced lawyers--from establishing a law practice to applying the rules of ethics and professional responsibility learned in law school to a real situation for the first time—is its own reward. A second benefit of mentoring is that it strengthens your connection with the Thurgood Marshall community and allows you to forge lasting relationships with young lawyers-to-be who will soon be your professional colleagues. If you were ever mentored by a senior attorney, joining the Career Services Mentors Network is your chance to: “Pass the good deed forward.”

Please make a gift of your time and experience by completing the attached volunteer form and returning it to our office via U.S. mail, e-mail, or fax. We look forward to including you in the Career Mentor Directory! Feel free to contact me directly at 713-313-7372 if you have any questions. We look forward to working with you on this exciting project.

With thanks,

Mary Quealy Antin
