Externship Program
Welcome to the Thurgood Marshall School of Law
Externship program.
Through the Externship program, Thurgood
Marshall Law students have a unique opportunity to connect doctrinal
law and theory studied in the classroom with the actual practice of
law under the guidance and supervision of experienced lawyers. It is
expected that through this Externship program, students will develop
professional values, skills and knowledge in accordance with specific
educational goals.
We greatly appreciate the willingness of
attorneys and Judges in the field that agree to serve as supervisors
and mentors to students as they make the transition from the classroom
to the community and the practice of law. Judges and Supervising
Attorneys play a vital role in Thurgood Marshall School of Law
School’s mission to prepare our students for intelligent, creative and
ethical participation in the legal profession. We recognize that
student supervision takes time and effort, but we hope and expect that
the experience will be rewarding for all.
Thank you again for this opportunity and I look forward to working
with you.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Smith Ledesma
