Calvin Botley Lecture Series
Thurgood Marshall Lecture Series
Faculty Quodlibet
Throughout the year, the School of Law hosts many eminent attorneys and
judges at its Botley Distinguished Lecture Series. The lecture series
bears the name of Judge Calvin Botley, one of the School’s most revered
alumni. Judge Botley, a United States Magistrate Judge since 1979,
coordinates all of the speakers for the lecture series. Working in
tandem with the Office of Communications in the School of Law, Judge
Botley seeks to recruit some of the best professionals representing all
facets of the legal profession.
The Botley lecture series, developed primarily for students, is held
during the fall and spring semesters at the noon hour. Following the
lecture, students are afforded an opportunity to engage in a question
and answer period.
Due to the success of the Botley Lecture Series, the law school has also
implemented the Thurgood Marshall Lecture Series and the Faculty Quodlibets.
The Thurgood Marshall Lecture Series seeks to provide opportunities for TMSL
senior faculty members and visiting professors to promote intellectual
exchanges on their specific areas of expertise. The Faculty Quodlibets
serves as an avenue for junior faculty members to engage in disputations on
research interests. All lectures are held during the lunch hour.
