TMSL MOOT COURT TEAM WINS FIRST PLACE IN COMPETITION

In February, the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Team won first place at the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) Rocky Mountain Regional Competition held at the Texas Supreme Court Building in Austin, Texas. Thurgood Marshall School of Law entered four teams in the competition. The first place winners were Third year students Charslyn Mitchell and Natalie Adelaja. This team, along with the second and third place teams, will compete at the National Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition 40th Anniversary Celebration in Detroit, Michigan during the week of March 26-30, 2008.

The semi-finalist team was comprised of Keryl Douglas and Marvin Poole. Second year student George Reff was the Second Runner–Up for the Best Advocate, and Bree Boulware and George Reff, both second year students, advanced to the top six teams. Thurgood’s fourth team was comprised of Angela Jefferies and Jermecia Beachem. Professor Marguerite Butler coached all four teams. The Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition was formed in 1976.
