| FAYE WEBSTER RETIRES AFTER 41 YEARS
After 41 years of service to Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library,
Faye Webster, looseleaf and upkeep services supervisor,
will retire on January 31, 2006. In her present position, Webster oversees
the updating of looseleaf, serials, and reporters. Webster joined the
TMSL family in 1965 as the Circulation Supervisor and later became the
Circulation and Government Documents Supervisor. During her tenure at
the School of Law, Webster was instrumental in organizing the Government
Documents area, which received departmental status in 1982.
Affectionately called “Mama Faye” by students and staff,
Webster has always displayed a caring and loving attitude. She is well
known for generously providing hot meals to students who were unable to
pay for lunch due to their finances. She also counseled students who experienced
personal, social, and academic problems. Her sage advice helped students
to overcome barriers, resolve problems, and accomplish goals.
According to DeCarlous Spearman, Interim Director of the Law Library,
“Ms. Faye has been the glue to hold things together in the library.
Her work performance has been exemplary and her diligence has been remarkable.
The Law Library will miss her energy and enthusiasm. Nevertheless, we
wish her well in her retirement.”
The School of Law will hold a celebratory farewell in her honor on Thursday,
January 26, 2006.
