Thurgood Marshall School of Law Mock Trial Teams
Place in Regional Mock Trial Competition
Two Mock Trial Teams of the Black Law Students Association
(BLSA), Barbara C. Jordan Chapter at Thurgood Marshall School of Law
won second and third place in the Mock Trial competitions held January
25-29, 2006, during the Rocky Mountain Region’s 38th Annual Convention
in Houston. The semi-finals were held at the Doubletree hotel and the
final round of the competition was held at South Texas College of Law.
Second place was won by Team 1, which consisted of all
third-year students, including Walter Jones, Chris Elliott, Chanae Connell,
and Melissa Morris. Third place was awarded to Team 2. The third-year
students comprising Team 2 were Rhoda Adusei, Toria Finch, Beatrice
McFarland, and Audra Riley. Kebaru Smith, TMSL alumnus served as the
coach for Team 1. Carroll Robinson coached Team 2. Robinson, a TMSL
alumnus currently serves as the associate dean in the School of Public
Affairs.
Team 1 will travel to Washington, D.C. in late March to
represent Thurgood Marshall in the National Black Law Student Association’s
Mock Trial Competition.
