The Thurgood Marshall School of Law Library subscribes to a growing selection of online legal research tools covering many areas of law. These databases are available through the TMSL network and from home via Remote Access. Specific restrictions are outlined following each database link.

To access any database click the database name. For Remote Access, click on the Remote Access link at the end of the database link information. **To access the databases remotely, you must be a current student, faculty or staff member and possess a TMSL library patron card. ** Some Electronic Resources are not available by Remote Access. 19th Century Master File Series: Coverage-Core periodical index dates back to the 18th,19th and the early 20th century. The index includes: Index to Legal Periodical Literature 1786-1992. ||Remote Access

Access UN: 1991-Present. Index to current and retrospective United Nations documents and publications. Provides full text and links to the United Nations website. ||Remote Access

BePress: Abstracts and full text of high-quality peer-reviewed journals. The law library subscribes to four (4) of BePress law journals.. ||Remote Access

BNA Core Collection: The Law Library subscribes to the "BNA-Core" plan, which provides access to the following BNA online publications. The content is available via BNA Direct, LexisNexis or Westlaw. Remote via Westlaw or LexisNexis only

BNA Tax:  Tax Management's Portfolio Library and Daily Tax Report. No Remote Access.

CALI: Provides more than 100 interactive lessons and tutorials to help students learn the law. (Accessible via Internet/First time users must register via the CALI web site. Contact the Circulation Desk to acquire an access code.)

CCH Business/Finance Online Library: Current full text of primary authority and CCH current awareness materials in the following areas: Securities, banking, trade regulations, government contracts, transportation, and product liability and safety.||Remote Access

Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP): A weekly table of contents for new law review and journal issues and a subject index to the articles in these journals. (Emailed to Faculty members.)

CIS Congressional Universe: Current U.S. Congressional publications (bills, laws & regulations).|| Remote Access

Constitutions and Countries of the World: Contain current full text constitutions of 192 countries and provides Introductory and Comparative Notes that examine recent amendments and highlights.||Remote Access

CQ Press Electronic Library:  Created and hosted by CQ Press, the CQ Press Electronic Library (CQEL) is the definitive reference for research in American government, politics, history, public policy, and current affairs.  A wealth of CQ Press resources and years of journalistic and editorial expertise are combined in this indispensable reference collection.

HeinOnline:  Legal Periodicals 1980-Present. Full text retrospective collection of selected legal journals & law reviews. Periodically additional journals are added to this database. HeinOnline's U.S. Congressional Documents Collection: Complete online access to the bound Congressional Record and its predecessors including the Annals of Congress, Register of Debates, Congressional Record, American State Papers, and Journals of the Continental Congress in an imaged searchable format. HeinOnline's World Trial Collection: Contains hundreds of documents, including trial transcripts and other critical court documents, as well as monographs that analyzing and debating the decisions in famous trials throughout history, as well as biographies of some of the greatest trial lawyers in history. Immigration Law Interactive Drafting System Network (IDS): Over 150 automated Immigration forms from the various government agencies. (Only accessible via Law School Network computers)

IndexMaster: Indices and Table of Contents for over 6000 legal treatises. ||Remote Access

InfoTrac: OneFile 1980-Present. An Academic periodical resource that has more than 26 million database records that include full-text articles. (Accessible via Internet/Password required for remote access-Consult the Electronic Database Guide or contact Circulation Desk for assistance.)

InterAm Database: Collection of Latin American and Mexican legislation and regulatory materials. Legislation is organized by country and subject matter. (Accessible via Internet/Password Required-Consult the Electronic Database Guide or contact Circulation Desk for assistance.) 

Investment Arbitration Reporter (IAReporter):  An electronic news service tracking cross-border arbitrations between foreign investors and their host governments.  Our reports help a broad range of readers - including lawyers, academics and government officials - stay abreast of the latest lawsuits and policy developments in the field of international investment law.

Legal Forms: A complete listing of state specific legal downloadable forms from Bankruptcy to Wills. ||Remote Access:

Lexis Advance:  Lexis® Advance has intuitive search technology that reduces the amount of time to search, and introduces pre- and post-filtering capabilities that get you to the right answers quickly and with improved relevance.

LLMC Digital:The world's largest collection of legal literature and government documents in microform.  ||Remote Access

LoisLaw: Limited database of legal materials.  (Accessible via Internet - First time users must register by clicking on this Registration Link, consult the Electronics Database guide, or contact the Circulation Desk to acquire an access code.)

Making of Modern Law (All Mods): Digital Archive.

Oxford Journals:  We publish well over 230 academic and research journals covering a broad range of subject areas, two-thirds of which are published in collaboration with learned societies and other international organizations.

ProDoc: Document management software. (Only accessible via Law School network computers.)

RIA Checkpoint: An online service dedicated to tax law. It includes the Federal Tax Coordinator, Internal Revenue Code, Regulations with commentary and standard tax treatises.

RIA Estate Planning Systems with Treaties: Full official text of every treaty between the U.S. and foreign countries relating to estate and gift tax.

****NEW****Robert J. Terry Library Databases: Texas Southern University’s main campus has an A-Z list of Electronic Databases available to TSU/TMSL students, faculty, and staff. These electronic resources are available on campus and from home. To access the databases from home, click on a  database from the Electronic Databases A-Z list. Sports Litigation Alert: An online subscription to current case summaries and relevant sports law articles. (Accessible via the law school network)

TexasLawyer.com: The online version of the Texas Lawyer, which has been a key source of legal news and information to the legal community in Texas for more than twenty years.

Texas Libraries with Interrogatories: Full analysis of Texas discovery law with Interrogatories forms for all kinds of cases. (Accessible via Internet/Username and Password Required-Contact the Circulation Desk for assistance.)

Texshare Databases A collection of 60 electronics databases on a variety of subjects. (Only Accessible on campus network computers.)

Treaties and International Agreements: Provides full-text of more than 12,700 U.S. treaties and international agreements, including international tax treaties. The database is updated monthly.||Remote Access

Westlaw: Comprehensive database of legal material. (Accessible via Internet/Password required-Contact the Circulation Desk for assistance)

Lexis/Westlaw

First year law students may not access the LEXIS or WESTLAW databases until they have been trained or completed the first semester of law school. Contact DeCarlous Spearman for more information. Students accessing Lexis or Westlaw must send their print jobs to the dedicated Lexis/Westlaw printers.
