Law Library > Library Tours

The Law Library staff members are available to provide tours of the facility to new and visiting faculty. During the tour, we will give you a general introduction to the arrangement of the collection, explain major Law Library policies, and provide guidance regarding the use of the catalogs.

In addition, the Law Library staff will provide tours of the library for classes. Please adhere to the following instructions for scheduling such tours:

  • Faculty members should schedule library research sessions before sending students with Class-wide legal research assignments.
  • Contact the Reference Librarian at least three weeks in advance to allow adequate preparation and completion of the handouts.
  • The faculty member should discuss any upcoming assignments with the Reference Librarian.
  • Schedule a class tour of the library.
  • The Librarian will plan a legal research classroom presentation geared specifically to the class assignment.
  • The Librarian will locate and place library materials on the subject on reserve to provide control and ease in access.
  • If necessary, the Librarian will prepare research guides or handouts on the resources and strategies that students will need to research in a particular area of law.

Classroom Presentations
Classroom presentations by librarians can be an important part of seminars or other courses that you offer. Especially for students writing papers, a presentation on major research tools--both print and online--and a discussion of research strategies in the field can be a practical component of your course. Contact your Reference Librarian to arrange for classroom presentations in upcoming courses.

Library Guide
A Law Library guide is available detailing services, hours, rules, and location guide.
