Student Affairs

Virgie Mouton

Greetings from the Office of Student Affairs at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Our office assists law students by easing the transition from undergraduate school to law school, providing academic support services, maintaining student records, arranging for accommodations for students with disabilities, and assisting in other matters as needed.

Beginning with Orientation and ending with Graduation, our office assists the law student in how to brief cases, prepare for law school class participation, and prepare for law school exams. We maintain records of academic history, honors awarded and any academic or professional activities that affect the status of a law student. Our office assists law students in other areas such as counseling and accommodating eligible students with disabilities. Finally, we assist in directing the law students to the proper offices if we are unable to help them.

The Office of Student Affairs consists of Assistant Dean for Student Development and Academic Support, Director of Academic Support Programs, Registrar, Academic Support Program Coordinator, Coordinator of Records, and Administrative Assistant. Our office assists students after they attend the first day of 1L Orietntation.

Prior to matriculation, all calls are referred to the Office of Admissions.

We look forward to meeting you once you matriculate at the law school. Our office conducts the Orientation activities and personnel will be available to talk with incoming students during breaks at Orientation and when classes begin.

Best wishes from the Office of Student Affairs.
