| Procedurally, the Center is organized to accomplish its objectives through
four methods:
1. Government Externship Program
In collaboration with the TMSL Clinical Programs, students gain practical
experience via placement in various federal, state, and local government
agencies. Current offerings included are the legislative internship and
the Semester in Government Externship (Externship).

2. Career Programs
The Center for Government Law and Career Services offer a series of speakers
and workshops that focus on opportunities for employment in the public
sector. In addition, each semester a Government Law Career Day is held
to provide government certification candidates with the opportunity to
network with government employers.

3. Lecture Series
The CGL is committed to bringing recognized scholars and practitioners
to the TMSL to discuss policy and legal issues of importance in the government
and public policy areas. Each year the CGL will sponsor a conference in
the area of government law. In addition to major conferences, the CGL
will sponsor lectures from visiting scholars and practitioners, and a
monograph series of occasional papers.

4. Government Law Certification
Students with a demonstrated interest in government administration, regulation,
and policy are encouraged to participate in the Center for Government
Law Concentration Program. Administration law, local government, and government
contracts are among the courses offered to law students wishing to concentrate
studies in government law.
The concentration program allows students to focus their area of study
on government law. TMSL will award a Certificate in Government Law to
graduating students who successfully complete the requisite number of
hours in government law course work, Externships, and independent study.
The Government Law concentration program will require completion of a
minimum of 19 credit hours in the required core classes (9 hours), practical
skills/clinical courses (6 hours), governmental structure courses (2 hours),
and government regulation courses (2 hours).
