Presently, Mrs. Lea Williams holds the position of Visiting Law Professor at Texas Southern University-Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Within this role, she guides students through the intricate realms of Commercial Transactions, Consumer Rights Law, and Information and Privacy Law. Oriented in a profound sense of gratitude, Professor Williams firmly adheres to the belief that “to whom much is given, much is required.”
While embracing seven years of dedicated service as an Instructor, Professor Williams views her role as more than merely a Law Professor. She stands as an unwavering mentor and staunch advocate for her students. Her aim is to equip her students with the tools to seize meaningful prospects that pave the way for economic and civic progress.
Beyond her academic role, Professor Williams is a business-savvy Attorney with an extensive 11-year track record in both corporate law firms and in-house environments. Her prowess encompasses a wide spectrum of competencies: (i) crafting, negotiating, and formulating intricate commercial contracts, encompassing Master Service Agreements and Technology Agreements spanning SaaS, Cloud Computing, Data Protection, and Enterprise Software Licensing; (ii) navigating formal and informal dispute resolution; (iii) offering strategic regulatory counsel spanning operations, trade, investigations, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions; (iv) enhancing process efficiency and efficacy; and (v) collaborating with business teams to spearhead the conception, execution, and administration of compliance initiatives.
In recognition of her expertise, Professor Williams frequently accepts invitations to share her insights as a guest lecturer, speaker, and innovation champion. Noteworthy appearances include the National Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics Conference, FTC Regulatory Business Workshop and Legal Seminar, and Legal Commentator/Analyst for diverse news outlets.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Professor Williams earned her Bachelor of Arts before securing her Juris Doctorate from the Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law. Amidst her rigorous pursuits, she finds peace and happiness in culinary explorations, Bikram Yoga, globetrotting adventures, and treasured moments with her loving Husband.
