The Institute for International and Immigration Law (IIIL) was launched in the fall of 2002. Since that time the institute has sponsored major conferences and lectures in international and immigration law. The institute has also granted nearly 20 Certificates in International and Immigration Law to law graduates who successfully complete an academic course of study in International and or Immigration law. The Institute plans to continue to grow and develop its programs over the next few years consistent with its mission statement.

Mission Statement

The Institute for International and Immigration Law (IIIL) is dedicated to providing specialized academic and practical legal training for students planning a career in international or immigration law. At the same time, the Institute is dedicated to encouraging scholarly research in the fields of international law and immigration law. Accordingly, the Institute will do the following:

  • Prepare qualified and confident students trained for positions with law firms practicing international or immigration law; U.S. government agencies, foreign governments, and private organizations and foundations working to advance social and economic justice.
  • Prepare well-educated students with an understanding of the complex issues related to international and immigration law.
  • Provide a scholarly atmosphere for the study of international law and immigration law and to provide forums for the discussion of problems facing those disciplines.
