The progress of a lesson, concept, or idea rests on the ability to connect PEOPLE, CONTENT, and RESULTS. This is what Ms. James does as an instructional strategist and educator.
Ms. James earned a Liberal Arts degree in Communication Studies from Hollins University, holds a Master of Arts from Texas State University’s Communication Studies program, and is currently writing her dissertation to earn her Ed.D. from Texas Southern University's College of Education. Ms. James creates instructional support resources & curriculum for the millennial / career-focused classroom, and has also built strategy-rich professional development programming in the areas of Personal Branding and Network Strategy. She has written original curriculum and presented over 50 workshops, including professional branding workshops for AARP, The Texas Association of Black Professionals in Higher Education, and The Houston Area Urban League; She has also written & presented for instructional support programs at Texas Southern University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and College of Education, as well as The National Literacy & Professional Development Conference.
While completing her Ed.D., Ms. James researches and designs curriculum that maximizes the needs of the millennial learner to increase effectiveness in the college classroom. She is a Texas Association of Black Professional Educators Fellow, and has recently been named Instructor for The Center for Legal Pedagogy at Thurgood Marshall School of Law; a position she deems the perfect fit for her experience, research interests, and passion for Higher Education.
During her short tenure at the Law School, she has outlined, designed, and is in the process of implementing one of the only instructional support site built especially for law school faculty. She is an active member of both the Ad Hoc Committee on Professionalism and Ad Hoc Committee on Curriculum Mapping for Thurgood Marshall, and looks forward to using practical research to help define the role of instructional support and legal pedagogy.
